Saffron Walden Early Music (SWEM) is a new, small group of Early Music enthusiasts who have vivid memories of the short-lived but successful Saffron Walden Folk Festival in the 1980s, which included enormously popular Early Music concerts.
SWEM’s aim, quite simply, is to promote Early Music, in its huge variety, in and around Saffron Walden. With so much of its medieval architectural heritage still visible, Walden provides the perfect backdrop to such events and SWEM’s Facebook page has already prompted interest from accomplished ‘early’ musicians who are keen to perform in the town.
